New Summits of Decadence with Mochadamia Mountains

September 1, 2006 (Waitsfield, Vermont) – This summer, illustrious cookie maker Liz Lovely teamed up with micro-roaster Vermont Coffee Company to develop a method of transferring the rich flavor of their certified organic, fair trade Ralston Dark Roast coffee into a cookie. After many delicious rounds of taste tests, a new cookie and a new Vermont product partnership was born. According to Liz Holtz, President and Founder of Liz Lovely, "Vermont Coffee Company is right over the mountain gap from us, and company founder Paul Ralston devoted a lot of time and energy to help us develop our top-secret extraction process. He's been a real friend to Liz Lovely."

With the coffee conundrum solved, Liz was free to push the envelope. So, she added a mountainous heap of organic macadamia nuts, an under-coating of dark chocolate, and her signature dark chocolate drizzles. The result is an exciting new flavor combination that may give the four existing Liz Lovely flavors a run for their money.

"Every morning, my bakers are huddled around the percolator waiting for the red light to come on, so it was only natural that my next cookie would be coffee inspired. I hope they can control themselves around the dough, because we have some really large orders to fill!" remarked Liz.

Mochadamia Mountain Cookies follow the trend of many recent coffee-infused products inspired by the infiltration of Starbucks® and other espresso cafés into pop culture. Early market tests on the flavor were extremely favorable, even just with the name alone – a curious combination of "mocha" and "macadamia" attributed to Liz Lovely’s bakery supervisor Eric Denice, a 2-year veteran of Liz Lovely’s bakery. Fortunately, the finished cookies were just as much of a crowd pleaser as their name in local taste tests.

The product is already shipping to United Natural Foods, the national natural foods distributor that delivers Liz Lovely cookies to retailers throughout the East and Central United States. It will be available to Liz Lovely fans at participating natural markets, co-op food stores, and supermarkets, as well as through their online retail partner www.cosmosveganshoppe.com where you can also find T-shirts hand-drawn and designed by the company founders.

Liz Lovely, Inc., located in Waitsfield, Vermont, bakes cookies that meet the growing demand for premium quality, all-natural desserts.
