Liz Lovely is Certified Organic
We're ceritified organic by Vermont Organic Farmers, which is accredited by the USDA National Organic Program. We're carefully monitored by these third-party organizations. The process includes on-site inspections, audit-trail reporting, and a bunch of other technical stuff.
Benefits of Organic
Until the invention of DDT in 1939, everything was grown organically. It's unfortunate that we've allowed agri-business to fill our fruits and veggies with chemical herbicides and pesticides without a fight. Why? The concensus among researchers is that organic farms have a lighter environmental footprint. Research also shows that organic fruits and vegetables contain up to 40% more antioxidants.
GMO-Free
Genentically Modified Organisms save conventional factory farms big money. An "enhanced" tomato that poisons insects is a cheap fix. Unlike Europe, the U.S. has allowed big companies to buy fast approvals from the FDA without long-term testing or labeling requirements. Unchecked, natural cross-pollination could seed GMOs into every field America. Organic certification prohibits the use of GMO's, another great reason to buy organic foods.
